The 51Ƶ’s Dr. Margarita Perez has been recognized for widespread service to the University, to higher education and to students.

Perez, 鶹AV’s dean of students since 2015, was honored with the Outstanding Staff Award during the University of Louisiana System’s recent For Our Future Conference. The annual conference fosters professional development, networking and collaboration.

The Outstanding Staff Award acknowledges one staff member among the UL system’s nine universities. The recipient is someone “who has accomplished exceptional achievements in their respective job assignment, supports and fulfills their university’s mission, and contributes through service at their university or within their community,” according to the system.

Perez is “the epitome of a student affairs professional and a tremendous asset to the University family,” said Dr. Joseph Savoie, University president.

“Margarita is tireless in her efforts to advocate for our students and creates a welcoming environment where all students feel valued, safe and supported through their college journey,” Savoie added.

The Outstanding Staff Award was among three presented during the conference. The Outstanding Faculty Award went to Cordara Harper of Grambling State University, while the system’s Champion of Diversity and Inclusion was Ally Christian of Louisiana Tech University.
