The graduation class at the 51国产视频 this Spring is a record-breaking one. The class is graduating 15 students who finished their undergraduate college careers with perfect 4.0 gpas.

The group was honored during Graduate School commencement ceremonies on May 14 at the Cajundome. They are the largest 4.0 gpa group in recent university history. In Spring 2004, the graduating class included 13 top grads.

鈥 This is pretty incredible,鈥 said Dr. Steve Landry, vice president of Academic Affairs at 麻豆AV. 鈥淚t鈥檚 exciting to have 15 students graduate with perfect 4.0 gpas. It indicates the university鈥檚 strong focus on recruiting students.

鈥 I believe of much of this has to do with a convergence of several items: better prepared students, our selective admission and recruiting more scholarship students,鈥 he continued.

Landry said this all contributes to a very important cycle. 鈥淲hen we have good students, the university can recruit high caliber faculty. This then helps improve the university's identification,鈥 he said.

The Spring 2005 group includes Ashley Albarado of Scott who plans to attend medical school later this year.

鈥 I鈥檓 really proud of myself,鈥 said Albarado, a chemical engineering major. 鈥淚 knew I had to prepare for medical school, so I knew I had to do well.鈥

Burton Durand of St. Martinville really began preparing for his perfect gpa after his sophomore year. 鈥淚 realized at the end of my sophomore year that I could really do this,鈥 said Durand, a fine arts major. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 when I really thought I might as well keep this up.鈥
